Dream Big!

Ok, so I think I am getting the hint, Dream Big!

~What you think about, you speak about, you bring about

~10X Everything in your life that you want more of

~Dream Big because God has Big plans for you

Basically, God is telling me to keep dreaming big, thinking big, speaking big, and He will help to bring about Big changes. Ok, ok, but man oh man if there wasn’t some 5’6″ brunette standing in my way, I could do it (that’s me).  I might be alone in this but I am always standing in my own way.  I know I should do X or if I’m listening to Grant Cardone, I should do X then 10X it or 100X it. Often times, I think about what I should be doing then come home tired, but on Netflix and stress about how I’m not doing what I should be doing because I’m tired so it’s okay if I binge watch a weird history show for the next 5 hours then go to bed late and wake up tired.  Actually writing down what I do some nights makes me want to get up and slap myself across the face.

We are only given one life and it’s up to us to live that life to the fullest. We don’t do everything perfectly and yes it has ups and downs but we have to keep pushing forward, because you only get one shot. You only get one opportunity to things right and wrong. You only have this one life for better or worse. Honestly, right now, I want to ask the inventor of Netflix why they had to do this to me!, not really, you’re awesome and I’m the one who needs to get a grip. I abused the gift of Netflix streaming and turned it into a vice (binge watching shows for 5 hours definitely qualifies as a vice).  So, from now on, I am going to STOP my binge watching and focus my energy into something positive, like writing.  No one may read my posts but if one person reads this and makes a positive change in their life, then well that my friends is called AMAZING! Sitting on my sofa was not changing the world, it was not adding anything positive to my life (besides adding to my waistline).

So here’s to making changes big or small, that are positive and life giving.

“Drop It”

For anyone who doesn’t know Pastor Scott Williams, stop reading this blog post and go look him up on Google/Bing…whatever… He is amazing, funny, and packs a spiritual punch to your face. I used to live in Charleston, SC and there is a great church called Seacoast located in Mt Pleasant. On March 25th, they hosted Pastor Williams as a guest pastor and his sermon was nothing less than amazing!

He did a talk called “Drop It” and I happened to watch it, April 2nd. Oh My Gosh! He talks about so many different important topics in this sermon that I will have to go back and re-watch it, which I never do. Not because the other sermons are bad, but because Pastor Williams is fast talking and drops key nuggets all over the place that my head was spinning by the end.  I came away with the main points, Drop It, if it doesn’t align with your values or where you want to go and what you’re praying on, then drop it, because it’s probably holding you back. He made a lot of profound statements sandwiched between comedic stories. Sometimes I laughed so hard that I had to stop and say wait? what did he just say? OH MAN! I needed to hear that. He wants you to know that the good stuff is already here and you just have to drop all of the garbage and negativity so that you can open your arms to accept it.

If you’re interested in watching his sermon, download the Seacoast app, go to messages and he’s in the Jesus Said category, March 25th sermon.

Facebook Ads

Where have I been?

Not sure how many people read or follow this blog but I have been MIA for the past few months because I’ve been super busy with my office.

But the most exciting part of the past few months has been learning Facebook Ads. After 6 long months I have mastered Facebook Ads! This post is more of yippee for me and I want to shout it from the rooftops.

I have created funnels and a google spreadsheet to track all of the leads and stats. Also I get a text when someone new follows my funnel through to the end! For all of my super organized peeps, you know how exciting this is for me.

As a busy person this was critical for my mental wellbeing.

I really thought this process would be more daunting than it was but all of the years of piecing social media together has finally paid off!

Helpful tip: learn how to write copy. Before I attempted this, I learned how to write copy because I love to write, obviously.

I even contacted some of friends in my business and did some Facebook Ads for them. The best part?! They saved money and knew they could trust me. Trust is huge in business and I’ve been burned a few times myself by sleazy sales people. The guys I contacted were charging $2000-$2500 / month! Crazy expensive, so I cut my price in half, and enjoy the process.

Anyways, I’m very excited to have figured this whole thing out. I know it’s not for everyone but I love helping my business help other people and helping my colleagues.

Yay! 🙂

The 10X Effect

I’m re-listening to Grant Cardone’s book “The 10X Rule” and I absolutely love it!

I first listened to this book last year and it was such an inspiration. In order to live to 100% potential you must give 10X or 100X of what you think is necessary. If you think a project will take X amount of time, energy or money then you first need to prepare yourself mentally that it will take 10X that and then be prepared to give 10X the effort you thought was necessary.

This is such a truth. Everything takes much longer and much more work than we expect. Most people will give up right before they make it, simply because they give up too soon. Mentally, they didn’t prepare for this long or tough of a haul.

If I could encourage you to do one thing today, it would be to take a 10X approach to your life.

February 1

This week has definitely had a theme for me. I talked about being fast paced in my last post and now to hear “be still”, I’m almost speechless. Clearly, God has a message for me to be still, slow way down and enjoy this life He has given me. He is God and will be exalted. Wow. How profound. So often we use the words “might be”, “hope to”, etc… what about will be? That drips of omniscience- knowing that you will be exalted amongst all the nations. He has a plan for us and we need to change the dialogue in our heads to “will be”. His will be done.

Microworkers

Today I discovered a very interesting website, microworkers.

On microworkers, people sign up to like, share, tweet and other things to help people gain a following. They get paid a small amount for each task they complete. Each task pays a different amount.

While it may not seem like much, for those of us who are fiscally conscious this is a great way to get paid for something you do anyways! How many times do you like a post or picture each day? If you have an affinity for social websites I would highly suggest signing up. It’s easy and free to do.

At first, I got a great laugh, the name is hilarious and the concept almost seems ludicrous. Who pays for likes and shares? But the more I thought about it, the more it made sense. People may need to know about a great product that is being developed but won’t find out until it becomes “popular”.

Not entirely sure how I feel about paid for likes and shares, but it seems like a good way to make some spare cash and help someone get started in business.

What are your thoughts?

January 30

What a concept. How often I have wondered if God hears my prayers or is working in a way I can’t see (for a long time). In this fast paced, digital world of instant gratification, it is so easy to expect things to come quickly. Even if I pride myself on not wanting instant results, God knows my heart and may find me wanting. I work fast, I talk fast, I do everything FAST, so when I decide I want to change something in my life, I do it and fast. But then I want the intended outcome to come…fast. I think sometimes God wants me to slow down, way down and realize that I can’t control everything and there is a time for everything and everyone. Such a hard lesson to learn. Lately I have given it much thought and have found that He has a plan and if I stop to wait for it, I may realize that my prayers are about to be answered, maybe a little later than I’d like but in His perfect timing.

The compound effect

Staying with the theme of self improvement and personal development, I want to share a book I’ve been listening to on my way to the office. It’s called “The Compound Effect” by Darren Hardy. I started listening to this book back in June and for some reason got away from listening to personal development (pd) all together.

Last year, I listened to every book by Grant Cardone, a few by Brian Tracy, and etc… I was a personal development junkie for a long time. And ya know what? My life was actually pretty great, listening to this positivity and keeping me focused on the tasks at hand. Even after listening to Mr. Hardy for the past few days, I am writing this post because I am committed to the compound effect. I’m making small changes in my life because it is the small changes that make the difference. They add up to the big changes. It is important to keep a schedule, stick to it, and gain MO(momentum) as he calls it. It really does work!

He talks about not going full force into something, making unsustainable commitments or promises just to break them in 30 to 60 days. Instead, make goals that you can stick to long term. If you want to work out, commit to working out 30 min a day , 4 days a week, or a schedule that you know you can stick to.

Also how small habit can make or break you. For instance my 2pm Starbucks run was not good for my wallet or my health. I’m going to calculate all of the money I spent on Starbucks this year and then cry when I realize how completely unnecessary that was. Unfortunately I can’t rewind the clock and I knew better but sometimes you get lonely and want a break from the office so you make yourself feel better with some Starbucks. Maybe it’s a bit of a shopping addiction like a small little drizzle of spending that keeps you happy with that dose of dopamine.
