Where have I been?

Not sure how many people read or follow this blog but I have been MIA for the past few months because I’ve been super busy with my office.

But the most exciting part of the past few months has been learning Facebook Ads. After 6 long months I have mastered Facebook Ads! This post is more of yippee for me and I want to shout it from the rooftops.

I have created funnels and a google spreadsheet to track all of the leads and stats. Also I get a text when someone new follows my funnel through to the end! For all of my super organized peeps, you know how exciting this is for me.

As a busy person this was critical for my mental wellbeing.

I really thought this process would be more daunting than it was but all of the years of piecing social media together has finally paid off!

Helpful tip: learn how to write copy. Before I attempted this, I learned how to write copy because I love to write, obviously.

I even contacted some of friends in my business and did some Facebook Ads for them. The best part?! They saved money and knew they could trust me. Trust is huge in business and I’ve been burned a few times myself by sleazy sales people. The guys I contacted were charging $2000-$2500 / month! Crazy expensive, so I cut my price in half, and enjoy the process.

Anyways, I’m very excited to have figured this whole thing out. I know it’s not for everyone but I love helping my business help other people and helping my colleagues.

The 10X Effect

I’m re-listening to Grant Cardone’s book “The 10X Rule” and I absolutely love it!

I first listened to this book last year and it was such an inspiration. In order to live to 100% potential you must give 10X or 100X of what you think is necessary. If you think a project will take X amount of time, energy or money then you first need to prepare yourself mentally that it will take 10X that and then be prepared to give 10X the effort you thought was necessary.

This is such a truth. Everything takes much longer and much more work than we expect. Most people will give up right before they make it, simply because they give up too soon. Mentally, they didn’t prepare for this long or tough of a haul.

If I could encourage you to do one thing today, it would be to take a 10X approach to your life.

The compound effect

Staying with the theme of self improvement and personal development, I want to share a book I’ve been listening to on my way to the office. It’s called “The Compound Effect” by Darren Hardy. I started listening to this book back in June and for some reason got away from listening to personal development (pd) all together.

Last year, I listened to every book by Grant Cardone, a few by Brian Tracy, and etc… I was a personal development junkie for a long time. And ya know what? My life was actually pretty great, listening to this positivity and keeping me focused on the tasks at hand. Even after listening to Mr. Hardy for the past few days, I am writing this post because I am committed to the compound effect. I’m making small changes in my life because it is the small changes that make the difference. They add up to the big changes. It is important to keep a schedule, stick to it, and gain MO(momentum) as he calls it. It really does work!

He talks about not going full force into something, making unsustainable commitments or promises just to break them in 30 to 60 days. Instead, make goals that you can stick to long term. If you want to work out, commit to working out 30 min a day , 4 days a week, or a schedule that you know you can stick to.

Also how small habit can make or break you. For instance my 2pm Starbucks run was not good for my wallet or my health. I’m going to calculate all of the money I spent on Starbucks this year and then cry when I realize how completely unnecessary that was. Unfortunately I can’t rewind the clock and I knew better but sometimes you get lonely and want a break from the office so you make yourself feel better with some Starbucks. Maybe it’s a bit of a shopping addiction like a small little drizzle of spending that keeps you happy with that dose of dopamine.

The biggest secret in cleaning

Most of my friends know that I am a clean Freak. I love to walk into my apartment and see everything nice and tidy. I also love that feeling I get after a great deep cleaning. Some people use sage to clear out the unwanted spirits, I use my steam cleaner.

This summer (2017), my friend Xavier told me about this steam cleaner and my life has never been the same (or cleaner) since. I told him I use a steamer for my clothes, instead of an iron. ‘ A steamer?’ he said, and then suggested that I purchase a McCulloch (no endorsements) steam cleaner.  He swore by this product as the end all, be all of cleaners. He bragged about the many attachments and how he used it on everything in his house.

Well what was a neat freak to do? I hopped on Amazon and bought myself a Mcculloch steam cleaner. It arrived in a few days and away I went.

This is AMAZING!

Seriously! amazing…it’s super easy to use and even comes with it’s own cute little funnel. I bought some distilled water (as recommended) and went to work.

I have faux hard word floors in 90% of my apartment and this thing makes them shine. I also have a glass shower with the nasty water marks that accumulate over time. A his and her sink and a guest bath.  All of this would’ve normally required many different cleaning solutions, mops, sponges, etc… No more! I use the different attachments depending on what I’m cleaning and the results are remarkable.

Most importantly, I love not using cleaning products. I have been using essential oils more and more to avoid the harsh chemicals. I save on not using all of the cleaning products. #savingmoney . I’m a frugal person, so it was a big investment, but at the end of the day, I’ve been super happy with this purchase. I’d have to sit down and calculate how much I’ll save in the course of the mcculloch’s life.

Draw-backs

Some of the attachments produce this ear piercing sound. I pull out my noise cancelling headphones and move on with my cleaning.

Positive- points

Unlike swiffers in which you have to buy and buy the cleaning cloths, the Mcculloch cleaner comes with pads that you can wash in the washing machine.

The attachments are easy to use and easy to store.

It’s small and easy to store.

Very easy to use and effective.

The leftover water can be poured down the drain and I don’t feel guilty about polluting the water.

Overall, the Mcculloch steam cleaner is a great product and I love using it.  In fact, I used it today (hence the post) and am reveling in the cleanliness of my home.

Update on the apple watch

My apple watch sold!

This was my first time selling on eBay and I would say, so far so good. I listed my watch for $150 and it sold for $250. I paid about $420 (including tax) and was wearing the watch maybe 4 days a week. Overall, it wasn’t a bad product, it just wasn’t for me.

Like I mentioned in a previous post, I usually am pretty conscious about the purchases I make and intend to keep things for the long term. However, after giving more thought to the idea of de-cluttering and ridding myself of useless items, I decided this had to go. Now, it may seem like I took a loss on the watch and I guess in some way I did. But when I look in things in total, it was the right move for me.

I put the watch on eBay for a 3 day selling period and shipped it on Saturday morning. I even wrapped it up like a present, so that whoever gets might get some joy from unwrapping something ‘new’.

I had kept all of the original boxes and instructions, so hopefully that will help this person to use the item.

The money was deposited right away into my paypal, but since I am a first time seller, I will have to wait until February 8th to receive payment. I can see the money in my paypal account, but it is ‘on hold’. Hopefully, everything works out as it should and I will receive the funds and the buyer will be happy.

According to the usps tracking information, it should arrive today sometime.

Next item, a beach cruiser bike that an ex bought for me. It also has its own bike rack meant for a suv I no longer have. Where to sell that? Craigslist, perhaps?

De-cluttering

There is a book about de-cluttering and tidying up. I think it’s called “The life changing magic of tidying up” and then there is Dave Ramsey who talks about selling all of the un-necessary stuff you have accumulated in order to pay off debts faster. All in all, the best of the best suggest that you must give up, in order to gain.

Heading into 2018 makes me give these ideas serious consideration. In 2017, I bought an apple watch and while it definitely made keeping in touch with people much easier, I started to worry about harmful EMF waves. Anyways, that’s not really important, what is however, is the fact, that I really don’t think I want to keep it and as such I am going to sell it on Ebay.  The thought of selling something on Ebay gives me anxiety, but the freedom of not being tied down to this watch is kind of exciting.  Unfortunately, I can’t get back everything that I paid, but I something is better than nothing.

I also have a beach cruiser bike, that an ex bought for me, that I really don’t need. It was a great gift when I lived at the beach, but now that I live in the frozen tundra, it’s quite superfluous. It has sat in a garage for the past 2 years, becoming a great dust collector.  Time for it to go. Along with the bike carrier fit for the SUV I no longer own.

While all of this won’t add up to much, I think I will find the magic in tidying up. So with that, I encourage you to find what you don’t need and consider selling it or giving it away.

After I muster up the courage to actually rid myself of these belongings, I will update this post.
